In an effort to strengthen coordination and implementation of climate change activities in the Country, a multi-descipinary committee - National Climate Change Committee (NCCC) was formerly established in 2013. The Committee forms a platform for the government ministries, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), private sector and training and research institutions to interact and exchange information, views, and ideas, and connect efforts to address climate change issues in Lesotho. NCCC serves as an advisory body to the Ministry of Energy and Meteorology NCCC Terms of Reference.
The National Climate Change Policy(NCCP) developed in 2017 further proposes institutional frameworks necessary for proper and effective coordination and mainstreaming of climate change activities into different sectors of the economy.
This is seen as key to addressing the issues of working in silos by various departments, institutions and organizations; a state that could lead to disharmony between different actors and undermine its effectiveness and efficiency.
