The Eleventh Southern African Climate Outlook Forum (SARCOF-11), 3-14 September 2007, Maseru, Lesotho

The Eleventh Southern African Climate Outlook Forum will take place in Maseru from 3-14 September 2007. The purpose of the forum is to enable climate experts from SADC National Meteorological Services to develop national and regional forecasts for October 2007 to March 2008 rainfall season as key input to SARCOF-11.

Climate experts from all SADC countries are expected to gather at ‘Melesi Lodge from 3-12 September 2007 to develop national and regional climate forecast for October 2007 to March 2008 rainfall season. At the end of the meeting a consensus climate forecast for the region will be developed. The forecast will be presented to all stakeholders at SARCOF-11 at ‘Manthabiseng National Convention Centre on the 13th and 14th September. The forum will also discuss the impacts of the consensus climate outlook on other socio-economic sectors including health, disaster risk management, water resources and agriculture, among others. The forum will also verify the seasonal climate forecasts for the SADC region, which were issued in September 2006.
