Climate controls

Our climate is controlled by a number of local and remote factors. These factors include ENSO (sea-surface conditions over the Equatorial Pacific Ocean), sea- surface conditions over the adjacent southwest Indian and Atlantic oceans, the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), and others. To support weather and seasonal forecasting, the research section constantly monitors and provides updates on the factors mentioned. This is crucial for the improvement of our weather and climate prediction skill.
